Buttermilk Chocolate Bread



1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
2 eggs
1 cup buttermilk
1 3/4 cups flour
1/2 cup cocoa
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/3 cup chopped nuts

Preheat oven to 350F. Grease bottom of 9X5 inch loaf pan. In a large bowl, combine sugar and butter, blend well. Add eggs, blend well. Stir in buttermilk. Add dry ingredients and stir just until moistened. Stir in nuts. Pour into pan and bake for 55 to 65 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
